Caution! Due to inherent human biases, it may seem that reports on articles aligning with our views are crafted by opponents. Conversely, reports about articles that contradict our beliefs might seem to be authored by allies. However, such perceptions are likely to be incorrect. These impressions can be caused by the fact that in both scenarios, articles are subjected to critical evaluation. This report is the product of an AI model that is significantly less biased than human analyses and has been explicitly instructed to strictly maintain 100% neutrality.
Nevertheless, HonestyMeter is in the experimental stage and is continuously improving through user feedback. If the report seems inaccurate, we encourage you to submit feedback , helping us enhance the accuracy and reliability of HonestyMeter and contributing to media transparency.
Use of positive, hype-like wording that frames venues in a promotional or overly enthusiastic way rather than strictly neutral description.
Examples include: • "The Melbourne hospitality scene is always in flux. Here are the new venues we got excited about in May, plus five closures." • "Chicky Boi’s viral fried chicken sangas find a permanent home on Brunswick Street." • "Richmond’s Spaghetti Club has so much more to offer." • "Patricia’s second cafe proves the original concept was bang-on." • "slow down at Interlude with fluffy Taiwanese sponge cakes and complex tea drinks." • "what are “Melbourne-style cookies”? Bakestand thinks it has the answer." • "new Thornbury jazz bar Jacket was designed from a playlist." • "Torquay’s new Surf Hotel is a beachfront diner for all occasions, by top chef Jo Barrett." These phrases add value judgments ("so much more to offer", "bang-on", "for all occasions", "we got excited") and promotional hooks ("viral", "thinks it has the answer") rather than purely descriptive information.
Replace "Here are the new venues we got excited about in May" with a neutral framing such as "Here are new venues that opened in May, plus five closures."
Change "Chicky Boi’s viral fried chicken sangas find a permanent home on Brunswick Street" to "Chicky Boi’s fried chicken sandwich shop opens a permanent location on Brunswick Street."
Change "Richmond’s Spaghetti Club has so much more to offer" to a descriptive phrase such as "Richmond’s Spaghetti Club offers a broader menu beyond pasta" (and specify what that is, if relevant).
Replace "Patricia’s second cafe proves the original concept was bang-on" with "Patricia’s second cafe closely follows the original concept" or "Patricia opens a second cafe based on the original concept."
Change "slow down at Interlude with fluffy Taiwanese sponge cakes and complex tea drinks" to "Interlude serves Taiwanese sponge cakes and a range of tea-based drinks."
Replace "what are “Melbourne-style cookies”? Bakestand thinks it has the answer" with "Bakestand markets its products as 'Melbourne-style cookies'."
Change "Torquay’s new Surf Hotel is a beachfront diner for all occasions, by top chef Jo Barrett" to "Torquay’s new Surf Hotel is a beachfront diner headed by chef Jo Barrett" and, if needed, specify Barrett’s credentials instead of the evaluative "for all occasions" and "top".
- This is an EXPERIMENTAL DEMO version that is not intended to be used for any other purpose than to showcase the technology's potential. We are in the process of developing more sophisticated algorithms to significantly enhance the reliability and consistency of evaluations. Nevertheless, even in its current state, HonestyMeter frequently offers valuable insights that are challenging for humans to detect.
